An interesting finding from Prospects Luminate’s Early Careers Survey 2023 shows that managing finances overtook mental wellbeing as the main issue faced by young people in the past year. More than half of participants (52%) said ‘Money’ was the biggest challenge of the last year, followed by ‘Balancing commitments’ (51%), ‘Taking care of my mental health’ (50%), and ‘Keeping motivated’ (48%) – these four held a clear lead over other concerns.

In October 2019, during the 33rd Australian International Education Conference, Australia’s Department of Education released a report which showed that 75% of all international enrolments into the country involved an education agent. According to The PIE News, this was the first public release of agency performance data based on information logged within PRISMS, the Provider Registration and International Student Management System, which logs international students enrolments and looks to provide transparency for education providers.

Only students enrolled in postgraduate courses designated as research programs, such as PhD students or research-led masters courses, will be exempt. This new policy will take effect by January 2024 to give aspiring international students time to prepare and plan ahead.
