Check out the changes to the Postgraduate Coursework English language requirement at Charles Sturt University

Effective 15 July 2023, admissions will commence implementing the new English language proficiency score for Post Graduate Coursework applicants:

  • Postgraduate coursework applicants now require Academic IELTS (or equivalent) within the last 2 years with:
  • a minimum overall score of 6.0
  • no individual score below 6.0

This is a change from the current score accepted of 6.0 no band less than 5.5. All offers made prior to 15 July will be honoured at the previous requirement.

There is no change to HDR English language proficiency requirement:

  • Higher degree by research applicants still require Academic IELTS (or equivalent) within the last 2 years with
  • a minimum overall score of 6.5
  • no individual score below 6.0

Charles Sturt has also amended the International Academic Requirements Matrix, which you can find on the website, notably with improvement of equivalencies for Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the Philippines. For more information, click here

Applications, Deposit and CAS deadlines

Applications for some popular programs are already closed and the deadline for the remaining courses is fast approaching.

The deposit deadline for the majority of our programs is starting later this month. Payment for deposit for offer holders must be settled ASAP without waiting for the deadline. More places for international students are available for this intake and Wittenborg is happy to accept the maximum number of deposits from your students.

Non acceptance of PTE Online

Please be reminded that the University of Chester does not accept the online version of PTE. Please advise the students not to undertake this test if they wish to join the university. The list of acceptable English qualifications can be found here.

Non-Acceptance of Microfinance Bank Statements
The University of Chester requires mature bank statements of students for the issuance of CAS letter and accepts bank statements from all commercial banks. However, acceptance of any Microfinance banks from Pakistan is suspended due to issues with verifying documents. These includes Finca Microfinance Bank, U Microfinance Bank (UPaisa), Mobilink Microfinance Bank (JazzCash), Khushhali Microfinance Bank, NRSP Microfinance Bank, Telenor Microfinance Bank (EasyPaisa). In addition to these, the university will not accept running finance such as Trust Bank (any financial document from this type of institution) and Term Deposits (TDR’s) issued by any bank. Please advise students not to provide financial documents from these institutions.

Fraudulent Academic/Experience/Financial Documents

As a part of G.I. interview, students need to give a declaration that the documents they provided are genuine. The falsification of any document can result in CAS denial and deposit may be held since it’s a serious offense. Please ensure that the documents are thoroughly screened before being presented to the university.
